Back End Web Developer

We are searching for a Back End Web Developer with good programming skills to join our team. We need someone who, as part of a team, can create high quality web apps that thousands of users interact with daily. The ideal candidate has experience building real products for the web and should be able to present examples of their work. Please note: we are hiring more than one person for this role.

Responsibilities:

★ Play a key role in bringing to life products on the web from idea to execution
★ Take feature descriptions and make them a reality: from database design through to programming
★ Explain the technical trade-offs of different approaches, including estimating how long each will take to build
★ Maintain, contribute and adhere to our programming best practices and guidelines
★ Ability to complete and juggle multiple projects and responsibilities whilst having fun
★ Work with a team of UI designers, programmers, and server admins, to bring brand new concepts to market. From startups to the biggest of corporate brands
★ Maintain confidentiality on all of the above, given the sensitive nature of some projects

Core Requirements:

★ BA/BS degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, or similar
★ Database proficiency (schema design and queries)
★ Ability to program confidently in a web language (Ruby, PHP, Python, Java, Perl), ultimately programming exclusively in Ruby on Rails
★ Knowledge of MVC architectures
★ Strong communication and team relationship skills.
★ Ability to perform in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
★ Interest and flexibility in fulfilling multiple roles
★ Enthusiasm for innovation in the tech industry, including continuous learning and improvement
★ Experience with Git or another version control system

Bonus Points for:

★ Experience with Ruby on Rails already
★ Experience with HTML5 and CSS3.
★ Experience with JavaScript and one or more UI libraries like jQuery, Prototype, YUI, etc.
★ Experience integrating with 3rd party APIs (like Google Maps, Twitter, Facebook, etc)
★ Good automated test/spec-writing skills
★ Mobile application development skills (iOS or Android)
★ Experience working within Agile development environments
