Full-time Sugar Creative Studio in Cardiff

Overview:

Sugar Creative Studio (Sugar) is seeking talented Unity 3D, AR Developers to join us on a large scale, multi-year digital project to create a state of the art, immersive experience based around an iconic and globally recognised entertainment brand.

The project is an opportunity to define an entirely new depth of experience for future audiences. To achieve new qualities of immersion, we will be using a range of approaches including, immersive technologies, high-quality narrative, live immersive production events and an intelligent underlying platform that allows the user genuinely to influence how their experience unfolds.

The role will be Cardiff-based (with key stakeholders in Bristol, London and also with us in South Wales) and involve teams from at least 4 companies (including Sugar) to be managed as an overall programme. The programme is likely to last for 18-20 months minimum with the option to extend once the product is in the market.

AR Developers will work as part of the Sugar team and with the Programme Lead to develop a cutting edge augmented reality experience as part of a wider immersive storytelling offering.

You will need to ensure that all software created is of the highest quality and align smoothly with other aspects generated with the stakeholder group.

AR Developers will help to ensure the ambitious vision for the product by contributing assets, skillset specific insight and ideas.

This is an exciting opportunity for an AR Developer to be involved end-to-end in the implementation and delivery of product development.

Within this role you will:

• Flexible with new ideas and most importantly open to direction and iteration • Familiar with fast prototyping (white boxing) for testing • Ability to communicate and work with other artists, other developers & designers in a dynamic team environment • Willing to help others and ask for help where needed • Prepared to learn new tools during production - receive training as required • Be proactive and ready to share information and assets • Develop software for AR (MR/XR) using Unity 3D • Develop apps for Android and iOS (including apps for TV smart boxes).

We need you to have:

• Good experience in developing AR Apps and experiences using Unity 3D for iOS and Android • Proven track record of developing digital assets for games from product inception through to release • Experience working with technical artists using 3D assets pipeline when importing into various programs. e.g Unity 3D • Experience in developing multiplayer games, with an understanding of network play • Experience in balancing your own workload • Good written and verbal communication skills • Empathise with different disciplines to form aligned and sympathetic products • Experience in thinking through problems and generating creative solutions to problems as they arise.

• You should have a project mentality; always be questioning how the product could be improved, ensuring our work is focused on the agreed outcomes, the project vision and purpose. • You should be comfortable with all stages of the project life cycle, from creative concepting, to initial experimentation and requirements gathering through to delivery and support • Your portfolio should show that you are used to working on large projects: prioritising work streams, working across different media, working efficiently and managing your own time, presenting in meetings, fleshing out concepts, working alongside others effectively, and liaising with our large extended team to bring everything to fruition to your own exacting standards.

You'll ideally have:

• Experience at working in project-managed teams in a smaller, dynamic organisation without relying on extensive resources to get things done • The ability to articulate your thinking to colleagues, stakeholders, users, and ideally the wider design community • Demonstrable experience from your previous projects in having to make decisions and providing the rationale to back up your choices • Evidence of having worked on creative concepts - in particular, experimenting & rapidly producing multiple concepts and prototypes • A passion for games and an appreciation of the visuals and user experience on all platforms from mobile to consoles.
