Cutting Edge Android Developer Wanted

We are currently looking for a talented and enthusiastic Android developer to expand our small team. The day-to-day role will predominantly entail creating Android applications for our products and clients.

We are CloseComms, we create mobile app experiences, websites and other digital media.

• You write well designed, testable, efficient code using best software development practises
• You can integrate data from various back-end services and databases
• You stay tuned-in to emerging technologies and industry trends, and apply them into operations and activities
• You work well under instruction and can follow a design a brief, but are still able to add your own touch if required
• You have confident communication skills
• You want to work in a dynamic environment with a rag tag bunch of misfits in a cosy office inside a muddy park

Requirements:

• Ability to develop new native Android apps from scratch, mostly working from prototype designs
• You can improve, maintain and implement new features on existing Android apps
• Apply a user-centric approach (human centric design)
• Ability to work in in a fast-paced environment, to learn on the fly and apply
• Great attention to detail
• Able to manage workloads over multiple projects
• Creative skills with creative thinking and problem solving
• Ability to work calmly under pressure to tight deadlines
• A collaborative and flexible team player
• Talent with the right attitude to succeed

Key skills required:

• BSc Degree in Computer Science or relevant work experience
• Strong Java and Android development skills
• Proven record of developed Android apps
• Experience with outside data sources and API's (JSON, Rest, XML)
• Experience across the full mobile application development lifecycle
• Experience with Git, SVN or similar
• Familiarity with basic Linux Shell commands
• Proponent of test driven development (TDD)
• Strong UI development skills
• Object-oriented programming and design skills
• Understanding of design patterns and best practices
• Plan and organise own work and manage dependencies
• Continually strive to innovate and push the boundaries of technologies

Additional desirable skills:

• Good understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax and PHP
• Experience using social media APIs
