Full-time Welsh Government in Cardiff

The Welsh Government is looking for an excellent web designer to join our team in central Cardiff.

Working in the Interaction Design Team within the Welsh Government Central Web Team, your role will be design and front-end development across a wide range of government websites of all different sizes and shapes. Our websites range from small and timely campaign sites to enterprise scale sites such as the Welsh Government corporate site.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work on a wide range of Welsh Government websites and channels across a variety of topics
  • Design sites, templates, interface components, and graphical elements
  • Development of CSS/HTML/jQuery code to web standards
  • Work in a team environment working to the Interaction Design Team’s processes and methodologies
  • Provide advice and discussion on UX + IA
  • Offer ideas and enthusiasm for improving our websites

What you’ll need:

  • Handcrafted, clean, organised HTML/CSS/jQuery code
  • Beautiful, precise design skills
  • Proficiency in tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Dreamweaver etc.
  • Thorough understanding of web usability and accessibility

Salary: £21,120 – £ 25,200
