Front-End Developer

Full-time Bluegg in Cardiff

We’re growing our web team and looking for a front-end developer. We would love to hear from experienced front-end developers, as well as people who are just starting out with a great attitude.

What you’ll be doing...

We work in a collaborative, open-plan studio. You’ll love solving technical and design problems using code. We want you to challenge us (and clients) to help build great solutions on time and on budget.

The role is full time and permanent, based in our lovely Cardiff Bay studio. Our core hours are 8:30am - 5pm Monday to Friday. We are flexible and supportive of people’s different lifestyles and commitments. We are happy to work out a flexible arrangement with the right candidate.

If you are a Junior Developer...

It’s really important that you know HTML and CSS. We’d love you to be comfortable in JavaScript or have some PHP or Server knowledge, but it’s not a requirement.

We only work responsively, so an understanding/love of responsive web design and the benefits/constraints of different screen sizes is a must.

If you’re more of a Middleweight...

You’ll be expected to use your experience to lead projects and guide clients through development. As well as being confident in HTML and CSS, you’ll be comfortable using JavaScript and/or PHP and have some experience using a CMS We’d expect you to have a basic knowledge of:

  • Accessibility best practices
  • Performance best practices
  • Security best practices

You’ll get bonus points for...

  • JS Framework experience
  • Native iOS/Android skills
  • Experience of Craft CMS
  • Server/Devops experience
  • A.R/V.R experience
  • Shopify

What you’ll get...

  • £22-26k (Junior) / £26-32k (Middleweight), depending on experience
  • Long term growth prospects, mentoring and opportunities to lead projects
  • Great pension options and employee benefits package
  • Whatever kit you need
  • Fruit, good coffee/tea and quality biscuits
  • Regular Wagamama's. It's kind of a tradition.

How to apply…

Email [email protected] with a link to your work. Plus a CV and covering email of less than 150 words on why you're perfect for the role. We will invite successful applicants to an interview (face-to-face or via Skype). You’ll be expected to present your work, have a chat about your experience and answer a few questions on front-end development. Ideally, we'll want to find the perfect person by the end of March. But if it's sooner, that'll be fine by us!
