iOS Developer at VC-Funded Software Startup (Cardiff, UK)

Bipsync is a fast-growing, venture-funded SaaS startup with a product thoughtfully designed to optimize research management. Most of our customers are multi-billion dollar hedge funds and asset managers based in New York.

You will join our product engineering team, working out of our modern and spacious Cardiff office in Stadium Plaza. We also have an office in New York with the potential for international travel.

You need experience with the iOS development platform and related frameworks and practices. Knowledge of Objective-C and/or Swift languages and the use of REST APIs is essential. Familiarity with the JavaScript language would be advantageous.

About the iOS Developer Role

As an iOS Developer you will join the experienced Bipsync product development team, which is collectively responsible for several web, desktop and iOS apps, a browser extension and a suite of desktop plugins. You will be involved in the the development of our iOS apps on iPhone and iPad, and in conjunction with the team, help shape the mobile strategy which is critical for our users.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement features that take advantage of the capabilities of iOS devices like the camera, microphone, GPS, etc.
  • Shape our applications so they can handle the synchronisation, storage and display of gigabytes of data while remaining responsive to the user.
  • Ensure our mobile apps complement the other applications in our platform. Create efficient, maintainable, testable code.
  • Collaborate with peers on interface design, code reviews and testing.
  • Learn from your team members and teach when you can.
  • Pragmatically analyse customer feedback and usage data to improve and iterate features.
  • Evaluate and identify new technologies for implementation.

About You

You are an enthusiastic, knowledgeable iOS developer with an intuitive feel for what makes great software. You use and appreciate Apple products, and eagerly anticipate WWDC every year. You enjoy seeing code and feature development through the full lifecycle: from requirements gathering, specification and prototyping through to deployment and ongoing iteration. You’re a fast learner who will thrive in a rapidly evolving startup with continuous delivery and bi-weekly product releases.

Qualifications

  • A relevant technical/computing degree is preferred, or an equivalent technical background. Essentially we need to see some examples or documented experience that demonstrates your technical skills.
  • Proven ability with Objective-C and/or Swift. JavaScript would be ideal but is not crucial.
  • Confidence in consuming REST / JSON web service APIs.
  • Demonstrable experience with iOS. Familiarity with the Core Data and WebKit frameworks is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience with source control (Git), unit tests, UI tests and other software development best practices.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration.
