Digital Product Designer

Part-time Big Lemon - Anywhere

Digital Product Designer (Part-time/Contract/Freelance)

Do you want to be part of a growing team who are passionate, curious, and super-skilled?

We're looking for a creative digital product designer, part-time, contracted, or freelance, with super flexible hours, to join our mission to change people's lives with tech. Our team knows their stuff, and we're proud of our technology's impact. If you're a self-starter with the ability to creatively solve design challenges, we'd love to hear from you.

We're super open to exploring any kind of working hours set up. We can work around you if you're the right fit.

Salary: £30,000 - £36,000 FTE

Set up: Remote (UK)

We're on the lookout for a creative digital product designer to create amazing products with us from the ground up. If you're someone with experience in designing digital products and has a solid portfolio to show off your best work, drop us a line. We're looking for a broad understanding of UX and UI design principles for digital products and experience creating prototype wireframes, storyboards, and user flows.

We work with Sketch, Figma and the Adobe suite, but we're totally open to exploring other apps or processes. Please apply if you consider yourself more of a creative or a technical UX designer - who you are is much more important to us.

We're looking for someone inquisitive about the tech world. You should be a proactive problem solver with a positive and supportive vibe. As a small team, we work very closely, so communicating well should be important to you. You might sometimes head up certain features or entire projects, so the ability to manage your own workload is essential.

There are a few requirements that the role will need you to do:

  • Implement solutions to complex User Experience challenges with our team and clients/stakeholders
  • Work with our other designers and developers to add your creative verve to our Tech with Purpose projects
  • Articulate decisions and your work with the team and clients
  • Working in Agile-style sprints (no previous experience necessary)

All of our products use React.js on the frontend, either with MaterialUI or by building a completely custom interface. Understanding the development process for creating digital products would be great but is by no means essential. We can teach that stuff.

We're offering you an opportunity to grow as a person at a small company where everyone has a part to play. Personal development and wellbeing is an important part of our culture. We try to fit side hustles and R&D projects whenever possible to keep the creative juices flowing. We're offering:

  • Flexible hours
  • 25 days leave plus birthday and bank holidays off
  • Closed to clients over Christmas
  • Private healthcare for your family
  • Mobile phone on your first anniversary
  • Regular team meetups (when we can)
  • Pension
  • Care packages and subscriptions (coffee, Spotify, etc)
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • New equipment and a home-office budget
  • Work that's good for the soul

If this role sounds perfect for you, we want to hear from you. Send a short introduction about who you are, and your experience with anything you think is relevant to the application. Feel free to send links to things you've previously designed, introduction videos, a portfolio, and/or a CV.

You can email us at [email protected] before 10pm on the 8th of April. Good luck!

Big Lemon's ambition is to work together to promote a more inclusive environment, a place where we can all be ourselves, that celebrates diversity, so that different cultures can thrive, remove barriers to access and progression, in the life and work of the company, reinforcing our ethos in respect of encouraging fairness and equality of treatment for all.

Agencies: sigh It's not you, it's us. We've told you for years that we're not interested, and now we have exclusivity with another agency. Sorry. If you still must contact us, send something to [email protected].
