Managing Senior Designer

Full-time Intellectual Property Office in Newport

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a design team within the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) which is part of the Civil Service. The section provides a professional design service, creating design briefs/concepts, producing and updating a wide range of literature, publications and campaign media along with a variety of other visual media for both print and digital delivery. The section also provides photographic and video services and recently branched out into animation.

We have restructured the section and are now looking for two people to lead and manage two small teams of designers; being responsible for delivering work as well as developing staff to ensure skills are relevant and enhanced to enable them to keep up with trends and new technologies. The successful applicants will work closely with team members to ensure work is delivered on time, to the best quality whilst maintaining consistency and following the IPO brand identity. Working with customers to deliver and improve services will also be important.

You will be required to:

• Have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited design program or related discipline

• Be proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite CC2014 ( in particular InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat), Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as photography and video production (Premier Pro/After Effects)

It would be an advantage if you had experience of:

• Working as a senior lead/managing designer or equivalent

• Programming languages, CSS, HTML5, Flash, Unity 3D, App development or similar packages

• Designing for print and knowledge of print production methods

Salary will start at £28,000 (T&C’s can be viewed via the online application).
