Web Developer

The Web Developer oversees the day-to-day technical management of the company website, implements changes to the website, and assures quality of content management and site integrity.

Our website receives high traffic and is responsible for the majority of new customer sales, and as such is a business critical system. The Web Developer is solely responsible for all website development, programming and maintenance.

While part of the IT department, the role requires close collaboration with our in-house graphic designer and marketing team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will also be responsible for performing day-to-day site maintenance on 3 web sites (Main site, Careers and corporate site), setting company standards performing quality-control for browser compatibility, web services and maintaining and developing small web applications
  • Responsible for the update of company web pages, including graphics, animation and functionality
  • Responsible for the management and updates of the web services communication between internal system and website data including data, prices, CRM system
  • Maintenance of the company Intranet and advice to staff on how to best optimise their content for online deployment
  • To develop web page infrastructure and application related to pages with more advanced graphics and features.
  • To monitor web server and site technical performance.
  • Implementing search engine optimisation strategies.
  • Implement requests for the management of Pay Per Click (PPC) campaigns to achieve optimum ROI (Return On Investment) for individual active search terms for each of the major search engines
  • Work closely with the Marketing Team to set and ensure marketing campaigns achieve budgeted commercial targets
  • Circulate efficient and accurate reporting of the website traffic detailing results of each web marketing campaign and possible improvement
  • Act as main point of contact for any technical aspects of the website
  • Administer documentation live site update and processes
  • Source and manage new revenue generating online marketing opportunities
  • You will work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager and Application Delivery Manager to ensure that all developments are fully tested and are signed off prior to deployment
  • You will need to comply with BAYV’s IT Change Management procedures to ensure the smooth deployment of changes to the live website

Skills / Attributes Required

  • A dependable team player with a flexible attitude, eager to work in a fast-moving commercial environment
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proven history of building and maintaining robust, scalable .NET web applications
  • Experience of managing high volume commercial website, ideally within a CMS environment. Specific training will be supplied on our CMS platform.
  • Ability to convert Photoshop mockups into cross-browser HTML, CSS & asset files
  • Thorough knowledge of browser compatibility issues for major platforms
  • Awareness of web accessibility standards and SEO good practice
  • Technical understanding of domain name management (e.g. re-pointing, DNS, host headers)
  • Troubleshooting skills to ensure internal systems and architecture is linking correctly with web services
  • Knowledge of formal testing practices and frameworks (i.e. NUnit)
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite for converting vector images to online assets
  • Experience with source control tools (i.e. TFS) and practices
  • 3+ years experience with HTML4 & 5, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax
  • 3+ years experience with ASP.NET, MVC, C#
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • 2+ years experience in administering Windows Server and IIS7+

  • Experience of migrating websites to a CMS platform
  • Experience of developing mobile-first responsive websites
  • Experience integrating websites to backend systems
  • Experience integrating and debugging third-party Web plugins
  • Experience conducting A/B tests
  • Experience of agile development processes, SCRUM
  • Legacy experience with older browsers
  • Cloud hosting with Amazon AWS or Azure.
  • Developing Web Services using SOAP/WSDL and REST
  • Able to make reports using SSRS
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Dynamics AX.
  • Familiarity with jQuery & Bootstrap
  • Understanding of VB.NET

  • Ability to write and edit web content text with good spelling, grammar and flow

Salary / Benefits Package – TBC
