Front End Developer

Full-time Applied Card Technologies in Cardiff

The role

Working out of our central Cardiff office, you will be working with our talented API team developing the front end for our next generation services. Using HTML5 and the latest JavaScript libraries you will deliver cutting edge applications.

The ideal candidate will have extensive demonstrable experience of front end development, strong communication skills and a passion for quality.

Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining high quality Front End user applications using HTML5/JavaScript • Working with UX / UI team to refine wireframes and application flow • Providing feedback to the API design team • Sharing knowledge of HTMLS 5 and JavaScript technologies with the development team • Ensuring that work is delivered to the definition of done • Ensuring work is delivered to company coding standards • Escalation of problems including slippages in a timely manner • Driving quality within the team and ensuring other team members also practice quality first

Essential Skills:

• 2+ years of experience developing single page applications with demonstrable output • Deep understanding of JavaScript, design patterns and functional programming techniques • Conceptual understanding of UX / UI design process and development • HTML5, CSS using LESS / SASS pre-processors • Experience of working with REST and WebSockets • Any one of the JavaScript frameworks - Ember, Angular, Backbone etc • Unit testing (Mocha, Jasmine etc) • Build tools Grunt, Gulp, Bower • Version control / GIT • Agile Scrum / Kanban

Desirable Skills: • Background in Java development • Knowledge of SOAP web services. • Experience and skill in mobile application development Key Competencies: • Innovative, proactive and solutions orientated • Excellent communication skills and fluent in both verbal and written English • Disciplined and organised with good attention to detail • Willingness to take ownership and be accountable for tasks undertaken • Advocate of next generation technology • Co-operative and supportive team player • Ability to demonstrate quality in everything you do
