Wales Deanery (Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education: (PGMDE) is looking to recruit a Web Programmer. This is an exciting opportunity to make a valuable contribution to an innovative development team in the Wales Deanery. You will be working on I.T. projects which facilitate and support key functions for the benefit of doctors and patients in across all of Wales. The position requires sound knowledge of PHP and Javascript programming environments and knowledge of Apache and Linux. Systems analysis skills would also be useful.

You will be working in a dynamic, creative team of five which delivers projects of high quality to tight timescales. You will be an effective team player, able to learn and adapt quickly to change and new challenges. The role will require you to be involved in designing, developing, testing and demonstrating outcomes to stakeholders.

This position is full time (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday) and is fixed term for 2 years

You are required to evidence/demonstrate, in a supporting statement, how you fulfil each of the Essential and Desirable criteria shown on the Person Specification. Essential Criteria

  1. Good organisational and communication skills – written, oral and presentation.
  2. Systems analysis, program design, user interface design, implementation and testing skills.
  3. Detailed high level working knowledge and expertise in the following programming languages and their application: html/xhtml, JSON, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, PHP, JQuery, and MySQL. Working knowledge of SVN and current industry standards for best practice in systems and software development and version control.
  4. Knowledge of object-oriented programming.
  5. Knowledge of Internet Information Services (IIS 7.0).
  6. Knowledge and experience of Apache server.
  7. Knowledge and expertise in PHPMyAdmin.
  8. Honours degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualifications.
  9. Track record as a team member developing, testing and implementing web based software systems using PHP and JavaScript.
  10. Proactive, able to work on own initiative.
