Amity are a leading web development agency based in Caerphilly Business Park, serving South Wales and the UK. We specialise in building great looking, high standard, fast and reliable responsive websites, accessible on all devices. Our customers range from leading South Wales design agencies to startup freelance designers, from universities to manufacturing companies, from estate agents to solicitors, recuitments agencies to housing associations, food festivals to chefs, and a lot more.

We're looking for a web developer to be join the team and be involved in all aspects of development, from simple brochure websites to more complex bespoke web applications. You will be expected to build websites to a provided design within content management systems such as ExpressionEngine, Craft and Wordpress. On smaller projects you will be expected to take the site from provided designs right through to completion, taking care of preparing the admin, coding the HTML and CSS, and adding any required JavaScript functionality. On larger projects, you will be expected to work with the team, focusing on the backend development. You will be working in close contact with designers, so you must be able to discuss ideas and feedback suggestions. You will also be expected to meet with clients for meetings and training, and supporting existing customers on using their website and helping with issues.

what we're looking for...

  • Excellent knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Confident with JavaScript (predominantly jQuery)
  • Confident with PHP and MySQL and an understanding of object oriented programming
  • Confident stripping assets from Photoshop (or similar)
  • Able to explain technical details in laymans terms
  • A strong grasp of on-site SEO and accessibility
  • Friendly, communicative, supportive

a bonus would be...

  • Experience with Craft/EE/WP
  • An understanding of MVC principles
  • Experience with server management
  • Experience with PHP frameworks (e.g. Codeigniter, Laravael)
  • Experience providing training / writing documentation
